The rules of etiquette are clear when it comes to weddings. There are a few things we are doing that stray from the traditional rules....
How we are “Keeping It Simple”
How we are “Keeping It Simple”
- The wedding and celebration are in one location.
- This is a potluck picnic in the park. Instead of a gift, please bring food to share.
- If you are traveling a distance, your presence is your gift. No need to bring food!
- Expect an electronic Evite, not a paper invitation in the mail.
- Wear casual clothes that will allow you to walk and play in the park.
Yes we can Break the Rules!
- Please, do not feel you need to give us a gift. (We have worked really hard to shed many belongings so that we will fit in our new, small home!)
- The wedding ceremony will be non-traditional and participatory. Please come with open minds and hearts!
- The Evite, not paper moved by carbon creating mail trucks - need I say more about breaking that rule?
- When you respond to the Evite, you can tell everyone what food you are bringing OR leave that decision to the last minute.
- Seriously. There is no need to dress for a formal wedding. Dress for the park.
If you are not ready to Break The Rules
(or you just like tradition)
- We are still working on our home. Home Depot and Lowes Cards are useful.
- Sarah wants a hot tub... you can buy her one of those!
- Oooohhhhh and Geoff wants a new washer and dryer!
- We’ve been told that not everyone is willing to break the rules, and that we will end up with stuff anyway.....
- So WHABAM! There it is. If you feel deep-down in the depths of your gut that you must gift us.... A hot tub, washer or dryer... or maybe a gift card that will get us closer!
